Maharashtra News Live Updates: 'BJP to win 123-129 seats in state polls'

A fresh survey conducted by a private agency has predicted that in the coming state assembly elections, the BJP will reach its highest ever tally by winning between 123 and 129 seats out of the total 288 in Maharashtra. According to the survey, Devendra Fadnavis (35 per cent) will be the preferred candidate for the CM’s post, followed by Ashok Chavan (21%), Ajit Pawar (14%), Eknath Shinde (12%) and Uddhav Thackeray (9%). A Shiv Sena ad issued last week had quoted a private TV channel as saying that Eknath Shinde was the most preferred leader for the CM’s post, followed by Devendra Fadnavis. The ad resulted in a cold war between Shinde and Fadnavis, following which a fresh survey report was released and a patch-up effected between the two leaders.
