Mangaluru: There is no shortcut to success — one must not only work hard but also work smart in today’s world, said Shrinivas Bhat, director, talent acquisition, GlowTouch Technologies, Mangaluru.
Bhat was addressing job aspirants at a job fair jointly organised by Sharada College, Mangaluru, and UNDP and SAP, on Saturday.

“Apart from academic knowledge, one should also possess general knowledge and face interviews by preparing well. Applying logical thinking is the need of the hour. Youngsters must watch videos on interviews and career-related topics online, instead of wasting time on social media.”
D Vedavyas Kamath, MLA, Mangaluru city South, said that all are born with talent. “One can achieve success at any age. For example, Kentucky Fried Chicken’s founder started his business while he was a senior citizen. Grab opportunities when life throws them at you,” he added.
428 candidates shortlistedThe career fair was open to students currently waiting for their final year exams, already graduated and experienced candidates looking for a career change. More than 50 well-known companies like Winman Software, GlowTouch Technologies, Invengers Technologies, SBI Life Insurance,
Axis Bank and others participated in the fair.
Over 800 candidates visited fair, and so did students from 30 UG colleges, 15 polytechnic/ ITI institutions, and nearly 20 professional colleges including PG centres. In order to increase the chances of employment for the aspirants, there was no cap on the total number of companies one student could choose. On an average, 50 students visited each stall.
The total number of shortlisted candidates is 428, of whom 50 are selected for various positions. Many candidates are given appointments for the next round of interviews in their respective firms. Many candidates were given a second chance also.
