Modi-led govt won’t be back in ‘24: Yechury
Bhubaneswar: CPM leader Sitaram Yechury on Saturday said that the Narendra Modi-led government will not be voted back in 2024. He emphasized that the government had failed to deliver on economic fronts and pointed out that the recent train tragedy in Odisha was a direct consequence of the government's misplaced priorities.
“People of the country have realized that the BJP-led government must be removed from controlling the state structure in order to defend the secular democratic character of the Indian republic,” the veteran CPM leader said at a press conference here on Saturday.
He said the BJP government is not focusing on development of the country. “Banks have written off more than Rs 11 lakh crore in the last six years. Loans taken by the crony capitalists have been written off by the Modi government. Everybody knows about the corporate-government nexus,” said Yechury. He said the mythology related to electoral invincibility of Modi has been busted during the last few elections across the country. “They lost the Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka assembly polls and the Delhi municipal elections. Their number of seats in the NE is not impressive either,” he added.
