SURAT: A 22-year-old worker died while two others suffered injuries following a blast in hot air-drying process machinery on Saturday morning in Sachin. The blast was loud enough to cause panic in the area and workers started running for safety.
The exact cause of the incident that happened in the Lavkush Yarn unit in Hojiwala Industrial Estate, is yet to be known. The police registered a case of accidental death and started investigation.
In the incident, Pappu Yadav, a resident of Sachin and native of
Uttar Pradesh, suffered multiple injuries and was declared dead at the hospital. Two other workers Anand Garasiya (17), a native of Madhya Pradesh and Birendra Singh (25), a native of Uttar Pradesh, are under treatment for their injuries. Police said that they are stable.
“In what condition the blast occurred is not yet clear. Forensic Science Laboratory team was called for inspection and will submit their report soon,” said an officer in Sachin police station.
“Based on the FSL report, the police will take further action. Police will record statements of other employees and management to find out the facts,” said the police.
“The unit is involved in yarn making and processing. Hot air dry is a process for which they use steam and the blast occurred in the machinery for this process,” said cops.
