Now, ‘airport-like’ toilet blocks at platform No. 1 sleeper class waiting room

Nagpur: Passengers resting at the sleeper class waiting rooms at platform number one would now get to access toilet blocks imitating the style and pattern generally found at the airports. Nagpur railway station became the first to get such a modern facility in Central Railway.
Sources said the sleeper class toilet blocks are now even better than those at the air-conditioned waiting room.
The sleeper class waiting rooms were already handed over to a well-known name in the hospitality sector to run. The newly opened toilet block, which can be accessed through ‘pay-and-use’ system, too has been handed over to a private contractor for maintenance.
Apart from branded fittings, various modern amenities would be now provided at the well-illuminated toilet blocks.
According to a senior official, the work of expanding the existing capacity of the AC waiting room at platform No. 1 for the upper class passengers and renovation of its toilet blocks too is set to begin soon. “Newly purchased 30 sofas and other furniture and fittings would be provided at the refurbished AC waiting room,” said the official. He added that even the bathrooms would have a better look.
The Railway authorities dedicated the toilets to passengers through the sanitary workers.
