Modi wave will sweep country in 2024 LS polls: Brij Bhushan
Modi wave is holding sway in the country
LUCKNOW: In his first interaction with media persons after the Delhi Police filed a chargesheet against him in connection with allegations of sexual harassment by women grapplers, former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP from Kaiserganj, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, on Saturday made a strong pitch for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's return to power in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
However, he parried the questions on the chargesheet.
"Modi wave is holding sway in the country. BJP will form government at the Centre next year under the leadership of PM Modi. The party will win all 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP," said the BJP MP during an event in Gonda.
Evading a pointed question on chargesheet against him, he said, "People can see the strides the country is making under the leadership of PM Modi as opposed to the dire economic state in neighbouring Sri Lanka and Pakistan."
"People of all communities are aware that while the rest of the world is under economic stress, PM Modi has kept India from slipping into a similar state," he said.
On the ongoing attempts to bring all Opposition forces in a grand alliance against the NDA government at the Centre, he said even a united Opposition won't make any impact.
"No one can stop PM Modi's juggernaut in 2024 as it is being driven by the people," he claimed.

Meanwhile, in the same event, as soon as the MP came down from the podium two groups of present and former village heads of Bahraich village clashed with each other over taking selfies with the MP, said the police. The supporters of a gram pradhan from Bahraich, Fakru and former head Aafat, first threw chairs at each other and then pelted stones, said the police. In the meantime, the BJP MP left for another destination.
The melee continued for a long time and turned into a stampede-like situation. Many vehicles were also damaged. Later, police forces from surrounding police stations reached the spot and pacified the mob.
Gonda SP Akash Tomar told TOI: "We have booked 17 persons by registering FIR."
