The critically acclaimed first season of the Scam series was "Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story" which was released in 2020.
Gagan Dev Riar is reported to be the lead actor of the second season titled “Scam 2003: The Telgi Story". The series is produced by Applause Entertainment in association with StudioNEXT.
"It's a special day. And a special announcement. On the 3rd anniversary of @SonyLIV we bring you some good news!" Hansal Mehta said while sharing the announcement on Twitter.
"The series promises to be an intriguing watch as it will capture the life of Abdul Karim Telgi, born in Khanapur in Karnataka, and his journey to becoming the mastermind behind one of India's most ingenious scams spread across 18 states which shook the entire country. It is estimated that the scam value was around ₹20,000 crores," the makers said in a press release.
The plot of the film revolves around the character of Abdul whose family was struck with poverty during his childhood. Abdul started his career as a labor performing odd jobs like vegetable seller, but soon entered the business of documents forgery. Abdul build himself an empire out of his illegitimate business and also started money laundering.
Sources with insider knowledge of the project have revealed that the creators hold an exceptionally captivating screenplay, which exhibits the potential to exceed the triumph achieved by Scam 1992.
