350 Mayem villagers get land sanads

Bicholim: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday distributed land sanads to 350 villagers of Mayem but warned them of action if they sold or undertook illegal construction on evacuee property. “If such land is sold and a house comes up on it, the structure will be declared illegal and will be demolished,” he said.
While assuring the people that they would get all their rights and would be able to take advantage of government benefits and schemes, Sawant again cautioned those bent upon encroaching on government land of punishment.
Union minister Shripad Naik, who was also present, said the dispute has been resolved after a long fight by the locals for their rights.
