Truck rams into house, girl killed

Kanpur: A four-year-old minor girl died while her father suffered critical injuries after a speeding dumper-truck rammed into their house on roadside in Jahangirabad village in Ghatampur area of the district on Kanpur-Sagar highway on Friday morning. The police have identified the deceased as Humaira, daughter of Sartaj alias Sheebu (28), a private worker and a resident of Jahangirabad village of the district. The girl’s father was referred to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital after the first aid at the Ghatampur community health centre. The driver fled from the spot after the accident and a search has been launched for him. The incident occurred at Jahangirabad village at around 4.30 am on Friday while Sheebu along with his family including minor daughter Humaira, was sleeping, when the dumper, heading towards Kanpur from Ghatampur, rammed into their roadside house, said a communique issued by the Police Commissionerate. The body has been sent for postmortem, said police adding that searches are underway to arrest the truck driver. tnn
