LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana police have launched an operation ‘Let’s Cage the
Queen Bee’ for the arrest of Mandeep Kaur alias Mona, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the Rs 8.49 crore heist at the cash management company CMS. Ludhiana police commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu said under the operation, five teams have been formed, out of which four teams have been sent out of
Punjab while one is working here.
Sidhu said the kin of the accused earlier had said that Mandeep and her husband might have escaped to Nepal. The police are still verifying the claim. Meanwhile, police have also received a tip-off according to which the accused might have fled to southern states. The police teams have sent to different directions. Besides, lookout circulars have already been issued on the accused.
The top cop said that the police are also working on the theory that the accused could have hidden the cash in Barnala or Ludhiana.
On asking if CMS has submitted the details of the actual robbed amount, Sidhu said, “The company has not submitted the details yet.”
So far, the police have arrested six accused, including CMS employee Manjinder Singh, and recovered Rs 5.75 crore from them. Manjinder and at least nine more accused had stuck at the office of CMS in the early hours on June 10. They had held the employees and security guards captive and executed the robbery.
