Suspended officer under vigilance lens
Bhubaneswar: A suspended civil supplies officer (CSO), Brajendra Kumar Nayak, has come under the vigilance scanner for allegedly possessing huge ill-gotten assets.
During simultaneous searches at multiple locations in Bhubaneswar and Puri on Friday, the anti-corruption wing found that Nayak and his kin owned five multi-storeyed buildings in Bhubaneswar and bank deposits to the tune of Rs 60 lakh. A statue of an elephant with silver coating was also found in his house. The officials are verifying the metal. Nayak, who was posted in Nayagarh, was suspended recently on administrative grounds (dereliction of duty). “He had reportedly released bank guarantee money of a rice miller before delivery of the required quota of rice,” a vigilance official said.
He and his family owned five multi-storeyed buildings in Bhubaneswar, one farm house and one market complex with 10 shops, among other assets, vigilance sources said.
