LUCKNOW: Vijay Yadav, who had executed the sensational murder of gangster Sanjeev Maheshwari alias Jeeva in a courtroom in Lucknow last week, on Friday told the police that he was promised Rs 20 lakh but he received just Rs 8,000.
Sources privy to the investigation disclosed that Vijay continued to evade questions on the second day of his police remand on Friday.
Police could not get any clue on the motive of the crime and the person who provided him the weapon.
On June 15, the CJM court had given three-day remand of Vijay Yadav to Lucknow police.
Till last reports came in, Lucknow police were planning to take Vijay Yadav to bus stops where he possibly alighted before reaching the court. Sources said that Vijay came from Bahraich and alighted either at Kaiserbagh bus stop or Awadh bus depot.
Sources privy to the investigation said that Vijay Yadav was asked about his background since how long he has been running the gun racket and where did he go after May 11, 2023.
However, Vijay did not give clear reply to any of the questions. A set of 50 questions were prepared by the investigating teams but Vijay remained non-cooperative and kept on repeating the same things again and again.
Another team began questioning Vijay late in the night and got similar replies.
On June 7, Vijay Yadav, posing as an advocate, had opened six rounds of fire on Sanjeev Maheshwari who was brought for hearing in the courtroom.
