3 attending funeral electrocuted in Andhra Pradesh

TIRUPATI: Three persons attending the final rites of an elderly woman were electrocuted in a freak accident at Thambiganipalli village in Kuppam mandal of Chittoor district on Friday.
According to Kuppam police, family members and relatives were carrying the body of a 65-year-old woman, Rani, to the local burial ground at Thambiganipalli village when the accident occurred.
When the funeral procession was about to reach the burial ground, four persons carrying the body came in contact with a low-lying overhead electricity wire. Three of them were electrocuted on the spot. However, the fourth person was rescued.
The police have identified the dead as Tirupati, Muneppa and Ravindran.
Kuppam police registered a case and shifted the bodies for postmortem.
An investigation is underway.
