Jamshedpur: Two workers suffered minor injuries while fleeing from molten metal splashed from an induction furnace at the Amalgam Steel Pvt Ltd in Kandra in Seraikela-Kharswan district on Friday. A source in the factory said the incident occurred in the fourth unit of the steel melting shop and almost all workers were present at the site when the accident occurred but escaped safely. However, two of them suffered minor injuries, a company official, who refused to be named, said.
District factory inspector Manish Sinha said it was specifically a splashing and not an explosion. He said, “If water comes in contact with molten metal, such splashing occurs sometimes.”
Noting that there was no injury or loss of life in the incident, Sina said the department will conduct a detailed probe. The company has also set up a panel to probe the incident.
