Woman from marriage portal dupes man of Rs 5 lakh
A 48-year-old man was duped of over Rs.5.5 lakh by an online scamster, who lured him into getting a job abroad, but instead, siphoned off the money on the pretext of fees and procedures.

The complainant, a resident of Ghodbunder road, had met the accused woman on a matrimonial site. The duo started chatting and became friends. During one of their conversations when the victim told her that he is looking for a job, she offered to help him with it.
A few days later, she sent him some of the openings at various companies wherein he was told to send his resume on the given email address. Later, he got an appointment from a top construction company based in the USA. The other accused posed as a recruiter and asked for Rs 25,226 as a visa processing fee which he transferred to the woman’s account.
He received another email from a person who told him to pay Rs 62,137 for a medical certificate. He told the victim that it was a mandatory procedure required to secure the job. Later, again he was told to pay Rs 34,115 for the IELTS certificate which he transferred.Thereafter, he paid Rs 3.4 lakh more for travel.
However, when one of the accused named Charles kept on asking for more money without processing the application, the victim realised that he had been cheated in the online job scam and registered a case with the Kasarvadavali police station for cheating. The police said they have booked four persons in connection with the case, and further probe is underway.
