SDPI flays tariff revision, blasts Cong and BJP

Mysuru: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on Friday condemned the power tariff revision. The party leaders blamed both BJP and Congress for “this anti-people decision”.
Speaking to reporters, SDPI state president Abdul Majeed alleged that BJP okayed the power tariff revision as it was starting at a loss in the assembly polls to help private power producers. “Now, Congress is taking shelter in the BJP policy, instead of correcting the mistake,” he said, adding: “The Bommi-led BJP government didn’t argue effectively to defend the people’s interest in front of KERC. Now, the Congress government is continuing with its decision.” The Modi government’s coal policy should be blamed for the present crisis in the power sector, he claimed. SDPI state vice-president Devanur Puttananjaiah was present.
