Varanasi: The district administration has geared up for celebrations of the International Yoga Day on June 21 and is taking all steps to ensure a grand success of the event.
Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham will host a cultural programme and the main event of the International Yoga Day on June 21. The theme of the Yoga Day this year is ‘Har Ghar Aagan Yoga’ and programmes based on the theme will be organised in various institutes of the district during the Yoga week being celebrated from June 15 to 21.
In order to make the department-wise programme successful, the chief development officer, Himanshu Nagpal has fixed the responsibilities by giving necessary guidelines to the concerned departmental officers. The regional tourism officer has been asked to ensure that yoga programmes are organised at the ancient and cultural tourist places and of historical importance in the district. Along with this, a cultural programme and the main event will also be organised at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham on June 21.
The CDO directed the basic shiksha adhikari and the district school inspector that teachers in each school should conduct yoga events under the
Common Yoga Protocol, and should also organise yoga awareness rallies in villages. He also asked them to ensure proper cleanliness arrangements in schools and ensure availability of potable water during the event. The district sports officer was asked to organise yoga sessions in the morning and hold yoga awareness rallies involving sports persons as well as the general public.
The chief medical officer was asked to organise programmes at all the community health centers, primary health centers and health wellness centers of the district on a daily basis, and ensure cleanliness at the hospitals. Besides, medical camps should also be organised under yoga awareness campaigns. Besides, Asha/ANMs should be trained, and medical facilities should also be made available at the programme venue with availability of doctors, pharmacists, staffers, ambulances and adequate medicines.
The CDO asked the regional higher education officer to hold yoga sessions along with activities like seminars, elocution, poster making competitions at technical educational institutions, agricultural colleges, and medical colleges on the occasion of International Yoga Day.
He directed the district panchayat
raj officer to ensure that yoga programmes are held in each gram sabha under the supervision of the gram pradhan during Yoga Week. All block development officers should also organise yoga programmes in the block offices and gram panchayats during the week. The district programme officer was asked to provide training to the Anganwadi workers posted at the block level under the Common Yoga Protocol.
Meanwhile, a Yogasana programme was organised at Assi Ghat under the aegis of the district administration and AYUSH department on Thursday to mark the beginning of the 9th International Yoga Day and Yoga Week. The programme was attended by Mayor
Ashok Kumar Tiwari, district panchayat president Poonam Maurya, DM S Rajaligam, CDO Himashun Nagpal and others.
