Tamil Nadu BJP leader SG Suryah arrested for tweet alleging the death of a sanitation worker

A BJP leader in Tamil Nadu was arrested on Friday, for spreading fake news on Twitter, alleging the death of a sanitation worker in Madurai.

The arrested leader is BJP’s state general-secretary SG Suryah.

In the same tweet, Suryah attacked Madurai MP Venkatesan for his silence on the incident, the Madurai district police has denied about any such incident to have happened.

The BJP has condemned the arrest with the state president accusing the Tamil Nadu government of using the police to curtail free speech. BJP TN President K Annamalai said Suryah’s only mistake was to expose the double standards of the communists, allies of DMK. He further added that the state government is using state machinery to suppress free speech. He said the Stalin government is insensitive to the slightest form of criticism.

He said the Tamil Nadu CM is turning the state into a lawless jungle, such arrests are not going to deter them in taking the voice of truth against the Stalin administration and they would continue to raise their voices for the truth.

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar also speaking about the arrest said is a violation of fundamental rights. Madurai Police Commissioner Narenthiran Nayar told the media that there was no such incident happened in Madurai.

Suryah had written a letter of complaint to the Communist Party of India (CPI) councilor Vishwanathan that a sanitation worker had died on the job as he was forced to work in faecal water and sewage, which led to him developing an allergic reaction in his body and ultimately leading to his death.

The BJP leader slammed Vishwanathan for his double standards  for forcing the poor sanitation worker to resort to manual scavenging.

A case of robbery was reported in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior where two sisters who had recently married to cousins allegedly ran away with gold and Rs. 1.5 lakh cash from the in-laws’ house. The incident left the family in shock.

The victim Bharat Gupta, a resident of Darpan Colony, filed a police complaint in the Thatipur police station area. In his complaint, Bharat Gupta said he and his cousin Rohit Gupta had married Sanjana and Anjali, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur.

They got engaged to the duo sisters on June 9 and after the engagement, the couple got married on June 11. Bharat said his aunt’s son Bunty Gupta, his friend Jeetu and Lalu had played matchmakers and arranged this marriage for him and Rohan Gupta.

However, just 5 days after the marriage, things took a turn when Bharat left for work at the High Court on Thursday, both Sanjana and Anjali escaped allegedly with gold and cash from the house. He further added that his mother and elder sister were at home at the time of the incident.

After a while, Bharat received a call from his mother, informing him about the incident. He then immediately tried to contact his wife but her phone first went unanswered and then switched off. Following this, Bharat approached the police and filed a complaint against the two sisters.

As per the report, Bharat said he only possesses the Aadhaar card of the accused sisters, which indicates their address in Paras Khand, Bargadwa Harenya Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh.

Many such incidents have been reported in recent times in which the bride looted the groom’s family and ran away. Earlier, there was a similar case reported in Jharkhand where a woman managed to dupe two men by marrying them and siphoning off huge amounts of cash from the families. However, she was caught in her third attempt when the groom’s mother discovered photographs of her with the former husband.

Kenyan woman arrested at Delhi airport for smuggling 13 crore cocaine dissolved in whiskey bottles

Drug traffickers always innovate new ways of smuggling cocaine in India, the latest trend followed by smugglers is liquid cocaine. A 25-year-old Kenyan woman was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi for smuggling liquid cocaine on Thursday.

The woman was caught during her arrival from Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), said to be one of the major source for drugs.

On being searched, two whiskey bottles were recovered from her which had cocaine worth 13 crore dissolved in it. She was arrested on spot and the whiskey bottles were seized by the airport police.

The accused has been sent to a 14 days judicial custody.

In a similar incident in the past, a man from Tanzania was arrested at the Delhi airport for smuggling cocaine by mixing it in the whiskey bottles. The man was arrested as he was under suspicion by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and Customs. He too was arriving from Addis Ababa and was followed by the airport police from the boarding gate.

In another incident, a Nigerian man was arrested at Mumbai’s Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport with two whiskey bottles in which cocaine was dissolved in liquid in November last year.

The cocaine is dissolved in the whiskey bottles so that it cannot be detected by the security agencies at the airport.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence have seized 20 crore worth of liquid cocaine in the illegal market. Liquid Cocaine is made by dissolving the powdered cocaine using water or other solvents  which can later be converted into powder form.

This technique of smuggling cocaine is becoming more popular because cocaine is harder to detect in its liquid form as compared to its powdered version.

According to the security officials this method of smuggling is used rarely. A Narcotics Control Bureau official told the media, the UK and Switzerland have developed a new technique which helps in detection of cocaine in whiskey bottles without opening them. The DRI officials said cocaine is ingeniously  dissolved in the liquid bottles which makes it extremely hard in their detection.
