NEW DELHI: In a suspected suicide pact, a man and his wife hanged themselves at their residence in Narela after a quarrel. The man died during treatment, while his wife is critical. She was saved by her daughter.
The deceased was identified as Anwar (40), who worked as a labourer. His 35-year-old wife Arzina was critical. They were living in Bengali Colony.
According to police, they received a PCR call at 1.20 pm on Wednesday about the incident. A team from the local police station reached the spot and both the victims were taken to a hospital where Anwar was declared dead.
Police said, during inquiry, they came to know that the couple’s daughter found both of them hanging. “She untied the knot of her mother. She then alerted other residents of the area and a PCR call was made by one of the residents,” an officer said.
No foul play was found. Inquiry revealed that both the husband and wife were quarrelling with each other for the past few days.
In another incident, a 24-year-old man died after allegedly jumping into the Yamuna from the DND flyover on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Vijay Singh, who lived with his family in Noida and worked as an electrician.
Around 1:45 pm, police received a call regarding the incident. The caller, Arif, informed the police that when he was fishing in the river, he saw a person jumping from the flyover. Cops reached the spot and fished out the body. On the site of the flyover, one abandoned motorcycle was spotted.
