Bizmen raise issue of power cuts with new PSPCL chief
Ludhiana: Facing a harrowing time owing to the frequent power outages, a delegation of city businessmen met Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) new engineer-in-chief Ludhiana Inderpal Singh. They discussed issues including frequent power disruptions and power connections not being given to factories in certain areas of Focal Points.
Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) president Upkar Singh Ahuja said, “The main problem due to which our productions suffer is the unscheduled power cuts which take place due to improper maintenance of the PSPCL’s infrastructure.”
“We have urged the chief engineer to ensure that concrete steps are taken by the PSPCL to do away with this problem, at least in the industrial areas. We also talked about capping of power tariff for industry and simplifying the documents and procedures for obtaining new power connections,” he added.
CICU general secretary Honey Sethi said, “The industrial consumers in Focal Points are facing long delays in getting their PSPCL matters resolved due to the shortage of staff at the Focal Point Division.”
He further said that the high power rates were also a concern for the industry.
After listening to the grievances of the businessmen, chief engineer Inderpal Singh assured them resolution of the same on priority. He also assured the delegation that the concern related to decreasing the power tariff and simplifying procedures will be taken up with higher authorities. A decision on organising a meeting of PSPCL senior officials with the industry was taken as well.
