I-T sleuths carry out searches at 60 sites linked to 2 BRS MLAs
HYDERABAD: Income tax officials on Wednesday conducted searches on the properties of two BRS MLAs - Marri Janardhan Reddy and Pailla Shekar Reddy - and seized an undisclosed amount of cash and jewellery. I-T sleuths of the Hyderabad unit carried out searches at 60 locations, including their residences and offices of the companies linked to the MLAs.
Janardhan Reddy owns JC Brothers, a retail textile showroom, and JC Brothers Holdings Limited and infra projects. According to his affidavit filed with the Election Commission of India, Janardhan Reddy had stated that he owns shares in JC Brothers Retail Private, JC Brother Projects, JC Spinning Mills and JC Brothers Holdings.
The I-T department also conducted searches on the properties of MLA Pailla Shekar Reddy. Vaishnavi Group, which is allegedly linked to him, was searched. The taxmen were reportedly looking into suspected tax evasion in retail showrooms and infra projects of JC Brothers.
