‘Initiative to build houses for poor will inspire India’

Canacona: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the house of a beneficiary under the Shram Dham initiative of the Shree Balram Trust at Ardhofond.
Under the initiative, which is the brainchild of Canacona MLA and Goa assembly speaker, Ramesh Tawadkar, houses have been constructed for poor families in the taluka. Birla appreciated Tawadkar for the initiative and said that Tawadkar understands the problems of the poor and downtrodden.
The aim of BJP is to ensure the rise and development of the very last citizen — antodaya— and, in that light, the idea initiated by Tawadkar is very apt, said Birla. “Shram Dham is really a remarkable initiative. It's an inspiration for the entire country. With community efforts, the dream of a developed India will definitely be realised,” he said.
The Lok Sabha speaker spent a few moments talking to the family of Harish-chandra Naik, whose house he inaugurated in Tawadkar’s presence.
Keys to 20 houses constructed under the Shram Dham initiative were handed over to the respective beneficiaries at a formal function organised at the government higher secondary school at Mastimol.
Present on the occasion were chief minister Pramod Sawant and Union minister of state for tourism Shripad Naik, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Tawadkar said he was happy that the initiative was progressing in the right direction. “BJP workers who shouldered the responsibility of constructing the houses will be happy that they could work for the downtrodden,” said Tawadkar, adding that he was targeting building another 200 houses under the initiative.
Birla also paid a visit to the Balram residential school at Mushifond, Amonem in Poinguinim. Here he interacted with the students for a while. Birla advised the children to work hard to achieve success.
