    Cyclone Biparjoy Live News Updates: The very severe cyclonic storm to hit Pakistan's Keti Bandar soon, to cross Gujarat coast by evening

    The cyclone is expected to make landfall on Thursday evening as a "very severe cyclonic storm" with maximum wind speed reaching up to 150 kilometres per hour, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said

    Biparjoy is expected to make landfall near the Jakhau coast, Gujarat on the evening of June 15 and will traverse all along the Rann of Kutch up to Rajasthan.

    There is a possibility of heavy damage due to the cyclonic storm Biparjoy in the Arabian Sea.

    IMD has issued a warning for the coasts of Saurashtra and Kachchh. The Meteorological Department has placed this storm in the category of VSCS i.e. Very Severe Cyclonic Storm.

    Five relief teams each at Porbandar and Okha and 15 relief teams at Valsura are on standby to render assistance to civil authorities.

    Border Security Force in full preparation

    In the wake of cyclone 'Biparjoy' approaching Gujarat's coastal areas, Border Security Force (BSF) has made adequate preparations to combat any challenges arising out of the impending storm.The Inspector General of BSF Gujarat, Ravi Gandhi visited the coastal areas of Bhuj and took stock of the preparedness to deal with any situation.Speaking to ANI, BSF IG Ravi Gandhi said, "BSF forces are deployed at the international border. As per the IMD assessment, the concerned area is from Mandvi to Karachi. Our forces are alert with full preparation. We are helping people who are approaching us with any concerns. We are also in contact with other security forces like NDRF".

    Biparjoy to hit Pakistan's Keti Bandar first

    Pakistan Climate Energy Minister Sherry Rehman on Wednesday said that Cyclone Biparjoy will hit Sindh's Keti Bandar on Thursday at 11 am (local time). Under the existing upper-level steering winds, the cyclone is likely to keep tracking Northeastward and cross between Keti Bandar and India's Gujarat coast on Thursday evening with packing winds of 100-120km per hour and gusting 140km per hour.
