Boulder, Colorado-based Gelato Boy is recalling 728 cases / 5,824 units of Chocolate Chunk Gelato as it may contain undeclared milk, a known allergen, the U.S. Food And Drug Administration said.
The recalled product comes in a 16 fl oz paper pint container with a lid. The affected Lot Code is 4043T2, with a Best By date of 04/25. The UPC is 853457008002.
Gelato Boy Chocolate Chunk was distributed nationwide and is sold at various grocery stores. These stores include Sprouts Farmer's Market, King Soopers / City Market, Whole Foods Market and others.
The recall was initiated after a customer notified Gelato Boy that the pint did not have its normal appearance and that it "tasted like there's dairy in it". A lab test by Gelato Boy confirmed that the product containing milk was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk may get serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
However, the company has not received any reports of illnesses related to the recalled product to date.
Customers with a milk allergy or sensitivity are urged not to consume the product and dispose of it or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund.
In similar recalls, Supplement Manufacturing Partner Inc. earlier this weak called back Havasu Nutrition's Beet Root Powder + for undeclared milk allergen.
