Finally! Now to prevent people from updating with "massive" price drops of Re.1, let's have a min of Rs.100 or something :D

Increase it by 100.01 and then drop it by 100 like Az/FK :tearsofjoy:

IMO its a decent way to push your product at the top of pages. I would rather have 10 listings from single person so I can ignore them if I'm not interested, vs seeing multiple scattered postings from same individual (postings which I have seen and ignored)

Also, isn't bumping allowed as long as its after a certain time frame?

So what do we do to push our sale thread to the top? Many prospective buyers don't peruse beyond first 1-2 pages.

Thank you . We are a tech forum first . Much needed action like this was long overdue .
Tech section is separate from Classifieds hence unaffected from this. Bumping should be fine if done in regulation, it ain't required everyday perhaps once every 2-3 days.
Killing bumps entirely will kill the FS section for most people and only lucky people will get to sell items who time their new threads during high traffic hours.
Average buyer won't go beyond 4-5 pages.

Since you haven't dealt here even once, I don't expect a reasonable understanding or response from you but I may be wrong.

Avoid Bumps.
Only Info updates.

Please do provide answers/solution to above queries. Imposing a limit on how frequently it should be done might prevent over spam instead of completely banning it. Its easy to impose rules than answering alternatives

I don't check more than first 2 pages of classified so I guess this section is already dead.

If bumping is restricted, then it needs to be combined with
  • Compulsory closure of threads after sale
  • Automatic archiving of stale threads (3 months?)
This way number of open threads will be lower and people will be certain that whatever is listed is actually available for sale.

All these restrictions are slowly killing classified section, thats fine if the forum wants to operate without it but TE will also lose the revenue that these newbies generate to get access to PM/Classified postings if the classified section is deserted

I thought this was meant for folks whose only contribution to TE was nothing but 6-7 bumps on a daily basis.
