Five injured as chimney crashes

Surat: Five people including three children were injured when a chimney of a textile unit came crashing down on three houses due to strong winds in Tatithaiya village of Surat district on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in Avni Yarns Pvt Ltd and fell on the houses of adjacent Haridham Society.
A fire brigade team from Kadodara rescued them.
Locals told police that they had asked the textile unit owners multiple times in the past that the chimney was dangerously shaking due to wind.
But the unit did not take any action to repair the structure or raze it. tnn
