Chelsea transfer news LIVE: Havertz to Arsenal negotiations progressing, £40m Manchester United bid rejected, Brighton eye Gallagher
Keep up to date with all the latest transfer news, gossip and rumours from Chelsea in talkSPORT's live blog.
New Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino will have to hit the ground running once the summer window officially opens after inheriting a mess at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea finished a pitiful 12th in the Premier League - their lowest since the 1993/94 season - following a series of errors on and off the pitch.
Pochettino will be keen to bring his own players in to put his stamp on an already oversized squad but equally that may mean several high-profile stars could be on their way out.

Chelsea reportedly face competition from Manchester United in the race to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The Guardian claim United have shortlisted Onana and Porto’s Diogo Costa as they look to provide completion to David de Gea.
Onana is firmly on Chelsea’s radar as they hope to bolster their keeper options.
Chelsea target Manuel Ugarte has confirmed that he is set to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
He said: “The truth is that now I have to rest a bit before starting with PSG.
“I’m going to a massive club, it still hasn’t really sunk in yet, but I’m going to try and get started with everything.
“It’s true that Messi is leaving. It would have been great to play with him, but that’s the way football goes.
“But I’m very happy.”
talkSPORT’s Ally McCoist believes Chelsea would be making a huge MISTAKE if they let Kai Havertz join Arsenal.
The Gunners are interested in a deal for the German with Chelsea willing to sell for upwards for £75m.
McCoist reckons Arsenal would be pulling off an incredible deal if they can sign him.
Kai Havertz is wanted by Arsenal and talkSPORT understands negotiations are progressing between the two clubs.
The Blues want £75million, which the Gunners hope to lower.
However, Chelsea supporter Rory Jennings doesn’t rate the German and would be keen to see him leave Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “I don’t really rate Havertz. I don’t really like Havertz.
“He leaves me a bit cold. He is not particularly suited to Premier League football and Chelsea can upgrade massively
“But, as things stand, he’s still one of our better players.
“If you were to ask me to write down our starting XI, Havertz is probably in it, which just shows how poor Chelsea are shaping up.
“If you look at it from an Arsenal perspective, it doesn’t make much sense. Virtually every player at Arsenal is better.
“I don’t see what he adds to them.
“But from a Chelsea perspective, I am in favour of it [Havertz joining Arsenal] .”
talkSPORT sources understand Brighton are the latest Premier League club to show interest in signing Conor Gallagher this summer.
The Blues are willing to part ways with the Englishman in an effort to raise funds for incomings.
Meanwhile, the Seagulls are looking to revamp their midfield after losing Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool.
Moises Caicedo will also depart the south coast, meaning Roberto De Zerbi will have a couple of gaps to fill.
James Milner has joined, while Mahmoud Dahoud is set to join as well and they could be joined by Gallagher.
talkSPORT understands that Chelsea are willing to sell Edouard Mendy this summer after the Senegalese international slipped down the pecking order.
And Fabrizio Romano has reported that Mendy has recruited a new agent in an effort to arrange a transfer away.
Several clubs in France are keen on the goalkeeper, although it’s unclear what sort of fee the Blues are looking for.
It’s Premier League fixture release day and the Blues have found out their schedule for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
Mauricio Pochettino starts his reign at Stamford Bridge with an incredible home game against Liverpool set to take place on Sunday, August 13.
They then travel to West Ham before welcoming top-flight new boys Luton Town later in August.

Hello, and welcome back to talkSPORT.com’s live Chelsea transfer blog. Let’s start by taking a look at the biggest stories…
The Blues have rejected a £40million offer for Mason Mount from Manchester United, but the Red Devils are preparing another proposal.
The bid is way below Chelsea’s £70m valuation but the England international is one of Man United’s top targets.
talkSPORT understands the player and club have already agreed personal terms.
And there could be another major outgoing, with Arsenal genuinely interested in recruiting Kai Havertz.
Chelsea have rejected an offer from Manchester United to sign Mason Mount, talkSPORT understands.
Alex Crook has revealed that the Blues have knocked back the opening £40million and are holding out for closer to £70m for the England international.
But such a price tag is unlikely with Mount having just 12 months left on his current contract.
Arsenal’s interest in Chelsea star Kai Havertz is genuine, talkSPORT understands.
talkSPORT’s Football correspondent Alex Crook has revealed the Gunners and the Blues are some way apart in terms of valuation but the deal is one to keep an eye on.
Havertz has two years remaining on his deal at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s expected mass summer exodus looks to be getting a boost from their Premier League rivals, with Tottenham keen on recruiting Conor Gallagher.
Football.London report Spurs have a long-standing interest in the English midfielder and are keen on Gallagher.
The 23-year-old is one of several first-team players that could depart Stamford Bridge during the transfer window and Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of Gallagher’s energy and work rate.
It’s unclear how much Chelsea want for their academy product, but given Tottenham are a rival, you would expect the west Londoners to be looking for a premium fee.
This Kai Havertz to Arsenal story is rapidly developing with The Athletic reporting that the Gunners have now made an opening proposal to sign the German from Chelsea.
The Gunners hold a strong interest in the 24-year-old and are now working on completing a deal for Havertz.
Mikel Arteta is a big admirer of the German international and the north Londoners have leapfrogged Real Madrid in the race for his signature.
Chelsea could face some stern competition from Bayern Munich for Moises Caicedo this summer.
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claims the German giants are looking at the Ecuadorian midfielder after missing out on Declan Rice.
Thomas Tuchel wanted Rice, but it is Arsenal that are close to sealing that deal, meaning Bayern are set to rival the Blues for Caicedo.
The Gunners are also keen on the Brighton star, so there is the potential for a bidding war.
However, Sky Italy reporter Gianluca Di Marzio claims Arsenal won’t sign Caicedo if they get Rice.
Speaking to Wett Freunde, he said: “Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo will have a domino effect.
“If Rice goes to Arsenal, Caicedo goes to Chelsea or Bayern.
“These three clubs [Bayern, Arsenal and Chelsea] apply for Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo. Caicedo will definitely leave Brighton.”
Manchester United are attempting to sign Mason Mount for under £60million this summer.
talkSPORT understands the Chelsea midfielder has agreed personal terms with the Red Devils ahead of a move this summer but the clubs are apart on their valuation.
The Blues were reported to be looking for closer to £80m but Ben Jacobs believes that has now dropped to £70m.
However, that is still way beyond what United are willing to pay for the England international.
They believe Chelsea will drop their asking price and are still hopeful of signing Mount for £50m.
Arsenal have emerged as early contenders to Real Madrid for Chelsea’s Kai Havertz.
Journalist Charles Watts reports the Gunners are very keen on recruiting the German international, who is effectively up for sale this summer.
Los Blancos have been heavily linked with a move for Havertz but have been put off by the Blues’ £70million valuation of a player who hasn’t quite lived up to expectations since joining Chelsea in 2020 from Bayer Leverkusen.
Watts said: “As far as I’ve been told, Kai Havertz is a player of interest to Arsenal for this summer. He is very much on the list of potential targets.”
Chelsea have announced the tragic news that club legend John Hollins has passed away at the age of 76.
Hollins played 592 games for the club and is fifth in Chelsea’s all-time appearance charts.
He was a crucial part of the Chelsea team for ten years from 1965, having first joined as a youth player.
He played for Chelsea across two spells, returning after stints with QPR and Arsenal, and collected one FA Cup, one League Cup, one European Cup Winners’ Cup and the Second Division title with the Blues.
Hollins also served as the club’s manager from 1985 until 1988 and is a Stamford Bridge icon.
Chelsea hero John Terry led the tributes on Twitter, posting: “My love and condolences are with the Hollins family.”
More now on Chelsea’s interest in Nicolas Jackson.
Fabrizio Romano reports the Blues are watching the striker, but he is one of many forwards they have on their list as they look to boost Mauricio Pochettino’s forward options.
But they aren’t alone in looking at Jackson, with other Premier League clubs, RB Leipzig and AC Milan, all keen on the 21-year-old.
Romano also claims Jackson has a 35 million Euro release clause, which works out at £29.9m.
Chelsea are set to step up their pursuit of Southampton’s Romeo Lavia now that the transfer window is open.
The Belgian impressed in his first season for the Saints and is wanted by Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle.
But The Athletic report the Blues are leading the chase for the former Manchester City midfielder and are preparing an offer.
But Southampton are looking for around £50million, which is way above what the west Londoners are prepared to pay.
Chelsea’s search for a new striker has seen them switch their attention to Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson.
The Evening Standard report the Blues have held talks over a move for the 21-year-old.
Jackson scored eight goals in nine games at the end of the season and has drawn the attention of several clubs around Europe.
He is set to be available for £30million and would offer a much cheaper alternative to Victor Osimhen.
However, Bournemouth must be wondering what might have been as they had a January deal agreed only to see it fall through due to a hamstring injury.
Arsenal are lining up an offer for Chelsea midfield target Moises Caicedo as well as trying to bring Declan Rice to the Emirates.
Journalist Charlie Haffenden reports the Gunners are set to make the first move for the Ecuadorian international.
But the Blues are also expected to make an imminent offer as they look to add to Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield after missing out on Manuel Ugarte.
The Seagulls have promised Caicedo that he will be sold this summer, and they are awaiting offers from the two London clubs that are leading the race for his signature.
talkSPORT sources understand that Chelsea are prepared to sell Kalidou Kouilably to Inter Milan in an effort to sign Andre Onana.
The Blues are extremely keen on the Cameroonian and talks are set to take place between the two clubs over Romelu Lukaku’s future, and they will offer the Senegalese international to the Champions League finalists in an effort to bring Onana to Stamford Bridge.
Mauricio Pochettino is also keen on his fellow Argentine Lautaro Martinez as the west Londoners look to boost a squad that managed just 38 Premier League goals during the 2022/23 season.
The transfer window is officially open today and Chelsea are expected to be busy with incomings and outgoings.
However, one man they are determined to keep hold of is Levi Colwill.
The centre-back spent the 2022/23 Premier League campaign out on loan at Brighton and the Blues are determined to ensure he stays part of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
And Chelsea fan Rory Jennings want to see him remain as well.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “Colwill gets in the Chelsea team.
“The best Chelsea defender last season was Colwill. Our best player at the back was Colwill.
“Thiago Silva had a good season, but Colwill was Chelsea’s best defender last year.
“We need him back at the club.”
Hello, and welcome back to talkSPORT.com’s live Chelsea transfer news blog. Let’s start by looking at the top stories…
The Blues have been alerted to the possibility that Kylian Mbappe could leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer after the Frenchman confirmed that he wouldn’t extend his contract beyond next summer.
Real Madrid lead the chase but Chelsea are one of three English clubs that have registered their interest.
Meanwhile, Brighton are preparing a £40million offer for Levi Colwill but the Blues are adamant he isn’t for sale; however, Colwill could help Mauricio Pochettino sign Moises Caicedo.
That’s all for today’s Chelsea transfer news.
Come back to our live blog tomorrow for the latest updates on the Blues!
Chelsea’s resolve could be set to be tested by Brighton once again.
As reported by the Evening Standard, the Seagulls are set to make an improved bid of £40million for Levi Colwill.
An initial £30million offer was rejected by the Blues, with the defender not for sale.
This remains to be the case as Brighton look to bring Colwill to the club on a permanent deal following his impressive loan spell this season.
