Yr after MCG takeover, infra no better in colonies
It has been exactly a year since MCG took over seven licensed colonies with the promise of improving civic infrastructure, but not much has happened on the ground.
GURGAON: It has been exactly a year since MCG took over seven licensed colonies with the promise of improving civic infrastructure, but not much has happened on the ground.
These seven colonies — Sushant Lok 2 and 3, Ardee City, Uppal Southend, Malibu Towne, Rosewood City and Vipul World — have not undergone any major infrastructure upgrade in the past one year.
Residents said their primary concerns of poor internal roads, lack of water connections, old pipelines and choked drains still remain unaddressed. MCG has made project estimates and, in some cases, invited tenders too, but major work has remained only on paper so far, they alleged.
The corporation took over eight private colonies after the department of town and country planning ordered the takeover of nine colonies on May 9 last year. The eighth colony, Greenwood City, was taken over by the corporation on August 29, while the takeover of Mayfield Garden is pending.
Asked what has changed since MCG took over, Niranjan Yadav, a resident and chairman of Malibu Towne Federation, said: “Not much has changed. A detailed project report (DPR) for road repairs was prepared, but no work has been done so far. MCG only carried out patchwork.”
Residents said GMDA provided them an additional water connection, due to which their water crisis has ended. This is the only problem resolved in the colony in the past one year, they said.

In Ardee City, the roads have huge craters and require recarpeting. Insufficient water supply is another major issue. In Sushant Lok 2 and 3, the water supply lines and water booster station need to be upgraded. “The roads are in shambles, the water crisis is acute and garbage collection is erratic. But the sewer connection of A and D blocks of Sushant Lok 2, which was pending for the last 20 years, has now been done,” said Pawan Yadav, president of Sushant Lok Extension RWA.
The roads in Vipul World, too, are damaged and need repairs. Residents also pointed out that the sewer and stormwater drains require desilting. “The DPR for recarpeting of roads was prepared, but MCG is now saying that the approval of the tender cannot be done without the chief engineer and MCG currently does not have a chief engineer,” said Jaiveer Yadav, president of Vipul World RWA.
Residents of Rosewood City, meanwhile, said MCG should provide manpower to run their boosting stations to ensure regular water supply. In Greenwood City, the problems of water crisis and poor roads haven’t been addressed.
Asked about the delays in civic work, MCG superintending engineer Radheshyam Sharma said: “We are providing upkeep services and addressing issues related to water, sewerage, streetlights, etc. But we are still working on road projects of these colonies. We are soon going to allocate work for road construction in Sushant Lok 2 and 3.”
