Port Huron attempted murder suspect facing 8 additional felony counts

The 41-year-old man charged with assault with intent to murder following an alleged stabbing that sent another man to the hospital in Port Huron earlier this month is now facing eight other felonies that authorities said are connected to the original incident.
Aaron Schoenrock was arraigned in St. Clair County District Court on the attempted murder charge, as well as first-degree home invasion on June 5 after he reportedly stabbed a subject who attempted to intervene in a dispute in a north-side neighborhood.
Four days later, he was arraigned on additional charges: One count of torture, first-degree criminal sexual conduct during a felony, unlawful imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of weapons or ammunition by a felony, and three counts of possession of a firearm during a felony.
Port Huron Police was first called to the report of a male subject who was stabbed in the 1100 block of Elmwood Street the night of Saturday, June 3, when officers later located Schoenrock in a hotel parking lot on Yeager Street.
Earlier this week, Assistant Police Chief Brian Kerrigan said during their investigation into “the criminal activity Schoenrock was involved in” that they became aware of a female who’d allegedly been victimized by him, leading to the additional charges.
“It was a pretty extreme torture situation involving this defendant and her,” said Senior Assistant Prosecutor Joshua Sparling. “… This was the same person that was taken in his car when he went to try to kill this other man, too.”
Schoenrock remains lodged at St. Clair County Jail.
His listed attorney, Meggan Delisi, couldn’t be reached as of Thursday afternoon.
Currently listed in district court as two separate cases, Sparling said he expected to amend and join together the charges to continue as one proceeding later this month.
“All these violent charges … those are all enhanced by the habitual, 25-year violent offender, as well,” he added.
In the attempted murder and home and invasion case, Schoenrock was set to return to court for an examination at 1:30 p.m. on June 20.
On the second set of charges, he was slated for a probable cause conference at 9 a.m. June 20 and an examination at 1:30 p.m. on June 27.
