Cyclone Biparjoy Live: With the cyclone in the Arabian Sea barrelling towards the Gujarat coast, parts of the Saurashtra-Kutch region received heavy rains accompanied by strong winds.

Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall with winds speeds of 50-60 kmph in Gujarat's coast around 6.30 pm today, India's top weather official told reporters. The state administration has shifted nearly one lakh people living near the coast as a precaution and deployed disaster management units for rescue and relief measures, said officials on Wednesday.

The wind speed is likely to reach within the range of 125 and 150 kmph as Cyclone Biparjoy moves farther inland, India Meteorological Department chief M Mohapatra said.

This will be the second cyclone to hit the state in two years after 'Tauktae' in May 2021.

Cylone Biparjoy: High Waves Possible On Kerala Coast
The National Center for Oceanographic Studies (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of high waves on the Kerala coast (from Vizhinjam to Kasaragod) till 11.30 pm on Thursday.

The height of the waves is expected to be around 3.0 to 3.3 meters, it added.

The Northeast Arabian Sea will remain very turbulent till the evening of June 15 and the adjoining Central East Arabian Sea will become rough.

Cylone Biparjoy: Prepared For Range Of Cyclone Rescue Scenarios, Says Disaster Response Force
The National Disaster Response Force is prepared to mount rescue operations in a variety of scenarios that may arise after Cyclone Biparjoy makes landfall, the force's chief has told NDTV. 

18 NDRF teams are stationed in Gujarat, which is expected to face the brunt of the cyclone.  The other Union Territories and states that are likely to be affected and have asked the force for teams are Diu, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Rajasthan. Cyclone Biparjoy: Border Security Force Extends Helping Hand To People In Gujarat's Kutch Area
Border Security Force (BSF) deployed along the coastline have mobilised their efforts to extend their helping hands to the villagers in the border area ahead of Cyclone Biparjoy's landfall on Thursday evening, an official release said.

"BSF troops have made all necessary adjustments, accommodating the villagers within their facilities to ensure their well-being. Among those sheltered, there are 34 children, as well as senior citizens, males, and females. The BSF is diligently providing essential support such as drinking water, food, medical coverage, and maintaining hygiene and sanitation standards," the release stated.

Cyclone Biparjoy: Flights At Gujarat's Jamnagar Airport Suspended Till Tomorrow
Commercial flight operations at Gujarat's Jamnagar airport will remain suspended till Friday as part of precautionary measures ahead of cyclone Biparjoy's landfall.

Rough Sea In Mumbai, High Tides Expected

Rough sea waves were seen at the Gateway of India as cyclone Biparjoy is expected to make landfall in Gujarat on Thursday.

Biparjoy is expected to make landfall near the Jakhau coast, Gujarat in the evening and will traverse all along the Rann of Kutch up to Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, high tide is also expected in Mumbai at 10:29 am, Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai said.

Cyclone Biparjoy Live Updates: Indian Navy On Standby For Cyclone Biparjoy

The Indian Navy is on standby for Cyclone Biparjoy, which is expected to make landfall in Gujarat today. The Navy has four ships with Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) bricks embarked, as well as five relief teams each at Porbandar and Okha, and 15 relief teams at Valsura. 

Helicopters at INS Hansa in Goa and INS Shikra in Mumbai are also ready to be deployed, and P8i and Dornier aircraft from INS Hansa are on standby for aerial reconnaissance and transportation of relief material and personnel. Additional HADR stores and equipment are also being kept on standby.

The Headquarters of Western Naval Command (HQWNC) and area headquarters are maintaining close liaison with the state government and civil authorities to ensure that the Navy is able to provide assistance in the event of any contingency.

As Cyclone Biparjoy has hit several parts of Gujarat, Kachchh's Mandvi, on Thursday, witnessed rough sea conditions and strong winds.

Earlier, the Indian Meteorological Department, on Sunday, gave a cyclone alert for Saurashtra and Kutch coasts in Gujarat.

The department issued the alert: "Cyclone alert for Saurashtra and Kutch coast: Yellow message, ESCS BIPARJOY over East-central Arabian sea, at 1730 IST of 11th June near lat 18.6E and long 67.7E, likely to cross between Mandvi (Gujarat) and Karachi (Pakistan) by noon of 15th June."

As cyclone 'Biparjoy' approaches the coastal region of Gujarat, Dwarkadhish Temple in Devbhumi Dwarka is closed for devotees on Thursday.

Along with the Dwarkadhish Temple, the Dwarka Bazaar will also remain closed.

Cyclone Biparjoy Live Updates: Border Security Force Steps Up Cyclone Preparedness

In the wake of cyclone 'Biparjoy' approaching Gujarat's coastal areas, Border Security Force (BSF) has made adequate preparations to combat any challenges arising out of the impending storm.

The Inspector General of BSF Gujarat, Ravi Gandhi visited the coastal areas of Bhuj and took stock of the preparedness to deal with any situation.

Speaking to ANI, BSF IG Ravi Gandhi said, "BSF forces are deployed at the international border. As per the IMD assessment, the concerned area is from Mandvi to Karachi. Our forces are alert with full preparation. We are helping people who are approaching us with any concerns. We are also in contact with other security forces like NDRF".
