Samsung Electronics is the first choice for college students looking for a job. A South Korean job portal says most students looking for work pick Samsung as their dream employer because of the “satisfactory pay scale and compensation system.”

By “most students,” the job portal means 8.1% of people surveyed. The source (via The Investor) surveyed 872 job-seeking college students in South Korea, and 8.1% chose Samsung over 129 other Korean tech companies listed on the portal.

The job portal claims that this is the first time in a decade for Samsung Electronics to be the number-one pick among college students. However, we should point out that, in 2017 at least, Samsung Electronics also came out on top in a different survey conducted by JobKorea. And that survey included a little over 2,500 students from universities nationwide.

With that in mind, the recent survey’s accuracy might not be infallible, and the claim that this is the first time in a decade Samsung Electronics tops the popularity charts among students looking for a job is probably not quite accurate. Or, at the very least, the “first time in a decade” claim might concern only this one particular job portal cited by the Korean media this week.

Either way, it is not difficult to believe that college students in South Korea prefer working for Samsung Electronics. The company provides many opportunities and operates across a wide range of fields.

Other companies picked by students were Kakao, Naver, Hyundai Motor, Amorepacific, CJ ENM, SK Hynix, and Samsung C&T, the latter of which is the tech giant’s construction and engineering arm. Kakao won 7.5% of popularity votes. Naver, Hyundai Motor, Amorepacific, CJ ENM, and SK Hynix earned the votes of 6.8%, 5.6%, 3.3%, 2.9%, and 2.8% of students, respectively.

As for Samsung C&T, 2.5% of students would prefer working for the tech giant’s construction and engineering arm. And another Samsung affiliate mentioned by students was Samsung Biologics (1.8%).
