Mayor inaugurates new JMC garage office while workers on stir
Jaipur: Even as garage workers from the municipal corporation continue to remain on strike, the JMC Greater mayor inaugurated a new garage office in Mansarovar on Wednesday.
Mayor Somya Gurjar also administered an oath of cleanliness to all officers and employees present and work was started to ensure that Mansarovar zone becomes open garbage depot free.
During the inauguration, mayor Gurjar said, “Taking a step forward towards cleanliness, e-hopper will also be launched soon, which will help in environmental protection along with cleanliness.”
Garage workers from both the municipal corporations in the city have been on strike since June 6 over their demands of making their position permanent and stop contractual hirings. “We have been on strike for over a week, but no discussion has taken place on our demands. We have only been getting false assurances from officials,” said Mahesh Yadav, president of Vehicle Drivers Contractual Workers Union.
