Ashok Gehlot took a review meeting on Wednesday at his residence to review preparations for cyclone Biparjoy. Officials of the meteorological department said in the meeting that the cyclone was likely to reach south-west
Rajasthan on Friday.
The CM directed all the departments concerned to be ready for rescue and relief operations. A meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority should be held in vulnerable districts by involving SDRF, Civil Defence Volunteers and Aapda Mitra, he said.
The CM appealed to the general public to not step out of houses unless necessary in storm-prone areas and to take shelter in safe places only if needed.
He directed all the district collectors to convey the information/warning related to the storm to citizens through electronic, print, social media, SMS and local public representatives.
It was told in the meeting that the state government has instructed all the district collectors and related departments to operate 24-hour cyclone/flood control rooms.
Instructions have been given to deploy 8 companies of SDRF in Jaipur, Kota, Bharatpur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur and Bikaner and one company of NDRF in Kishangarh, Ajmer.
