Vagabond held for rape bid on 5-year-old girl

HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old vagabond was arrested for attempting to rape a five-year-old girl on Tuesday.
The accused and the victim's family live on the footpath in Kacheguda. On Tuesday, the girl had got up from sleep and gone towards Fever Hospital looking for breakfast. According to police, the accused followed her and took her into a deserted lane near the hospital where he tried to force himself upon the child. When the child screamed, the accused allegedly hit her head on the floor, cops said.
On hearing the girl's screams locals rushed to the spot. The accused tried to flee but was caught and handed over to the cops. Apart from sections of POCSO Act, he was also charged for an attempt to rape. tnn
