Teachers, parents’ involvement key for success of NEP: Shirodkar

Minister for water resources and chairman of task force committee for school education Subhash Shirodkar on Wednesday said that the involvement of teachers and parents will play a major role in proper implementation of National Education Policy 2020 from this academic year.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the ‘Janbhagidari’ event organised by the directorate of Education on theme ‘Ensuring Foundation Literacy and numeracy especially in the context of blended learning’ in Panaji.

Shirodkar said that at foundation level there would be one lakh students in the state and involvement of parents and teachers association in creating more awareness about the new education policy will help the students to adopt it.

He added that introduction of the National Education Policy 2020 by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a boon which will help in building a New India.

Shirodkar further said that one should aim to make the child versatile so that he succeeds in life.

Secretary of Education Prasad Lolayekar, IAS, addressing as the keynote speaker, said that the Ministry of Education in partnership with all states and Union Territories is holding Janbhagidari events throughout the country to create awareness and generate a sense of pride among various stakeholders like students, teachers, parents and community as a whole, about G20, National Education Policy and foundation literacy and numeracy.

Speaking further, he said that brain development is most rapid in three to eight years of a child’s life and hence we need to stress on how we can teach them for overall growth of the brain.

He added that the NEP 2020 focuses on Pancha Kosha concept that includes physical development (sharirik vikas), development of life energy (pranik vikas), emotional and mental development (manasik vikas), intellectual development (bauddhik vikas) and spiritual development (chaitsik vikas) of the child.

The state government is serious about implementing NEP 2020 and will systematically execute it by seeking help and cooperation from the people, he concluded.
