Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.13%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Zydus Lifesciences(up 2.84 per cent), Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(up 1.16 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(up 0.85 per cent), Gland Pharma(up 0.74 per cent) and Sanofi India(up 0.7 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Ipca Laboratories(down 2.45 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 1.78 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(down 1.74 per cent), Abbott India(down 0.53 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories(down 0.49 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.13 per cent down at 12976.8.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 39.75 points at 18755.9, while the BSE Sensex stood up 85.35 points at 63228.51.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 ended in the green, while 21 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, YES Bank and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of GKW Ltd, Uma Exports, Baid Leasing, Steel Strips and Signet Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while D P Abhushan, GHCL Textiles, Rachana Infrastructu, Infollion Research and Suumaya Lifestyle hit their fresh 52-week lows.
