Fire breaks out in multi-storey bldg

KANPUR: A major fire broke out in a multi-storey residential building in Saket Nagar area under the limits of Kidwai Nagar police station on Tuesday afternoon.
CFO Deepak Sharma said that on Tuesday at around 2pm fire broke out in a tin shed on the fourth floor of a multi-storey building.
The fire was soon brought under control and there was no loss of life, he said, adding, “People were safely evacuated in time from some of the flats.”
Fire tenders from Kidwainagar, Meerpur, Fazalganj fire stations were pressed into services to control the blaze. A group of onlookers said, “The people living in the building were scared until the fire brigades arrived, but everyone was rescued safely and timely.”
CFO further said, prima facie, it appeared that fire broke out due to some kind of combustible material kept along with scrap under the tin shed.
“Investigations are on to ascertain the exact cause of the fire,” said the CFO.
