Three years on, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has neither filed a charge-sheet nor officially closed the case. The investigation into the murder case, which was initially registered by the Bihar Police in 2020, continues to be shrouded in secrecy as the central agency refrains from divulging any details regarding its progress.

However, the case has garnered substantial attention and public interest, with various theories surrounding the actor's alleged murder gaining traction on social media platforms in the aftermath of his demise.
These speculations were further fueled by allegations suggesting a connection between Sushant Singh Rajput's death and the tragic demise of his former assistant, Disha Salian, on June 8, 2020. Nevertheless, the Mumbai police, in their investigation, found no evidence to support claims of foul play.
