Three Canadian provinces - British Columbia, Ontario and Saskatchewan - made nominations under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), a system designed to attract and select immigrants who can contribute to the local economy. It's important to note that Quebec and Nunavut have their own separate immigration programs.
British Columbia (BC) conducted four draws, inviting a total of more than 157 candidates. The draws targeted individuals in the Skilled Worker or International Graduate streams of the BC PNP, including those in the Express Entry pool. The largest draw invited 112 candidates with tech occupations and a minimum Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) score of 90. The other three draws required minimum SIRS scores of 60 and targeted early childhood educators, healthcare workers, and candidates in other priority occupations.
Ontario, on June 5, issued 278 notifications of interest to candidates in the Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The province held two draws under this stream, one for candidates in Health, Education, and Finance occupations, and another for those in Tech, Trades, and Other Priority occupations. The CRS scores for nominees ranged between 312 and 487.
Saskatchewan conducted its first draw of the month on June 8, inviting 500 candidates under two programs of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The draw included 268 Express Entry candidates and 232 candidates from the Occupations-in-Demand stream. Candidates were selected based on their occupations matching specific National Occupation Classification (NOC) codes, and all of them needed a minimum score of 69 and Educational Credential Assessments.
These recent draws align with the updates made to the federal Express Entry system. The introduction of category-based selection allows candidates with work experience in select occupations to have an advantage, in addition to having a high Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
