NEW DELHI: Amid speculation that the Delhi Police could file its report in court on Wednesday, sources said that the cops have included around 5-6 videos containing some statements made by the wrestlers in the past.
Without elaborating further, a source said that while one of the videos was of 2021, the others were also of earlier years.
When asked if former WFI chief
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh had provided them these videos, cops refused to comment citing ongoing investigation. Sources, however, confirmed that Singh, during his questioning, had provided the cops some corroborating evidence to support his claim that he was innocent. The police are likely to submit two reports in court before June 15. tnn
Wrestler row: Police likely to submit 2 reports before June 15 The police are likely to submit two reports in court before June 15. While one would be on the complaint filed by the six wrestlers, the other would be regarding the now retracted allegations made by the 'minor wrestler'. "If it is conclusively established that she is not a minor, police will move the court to withdraw the FIR lodged under Pocso," said an officer.
The father of the 'minor' wrestler has already recorded a fresh statement at the Patiala house courts in which he retracted the charge of sexual harassment against Singh, saying he made those allegations out of anger because his daughter had lost a match.
The police are also awaiting a reply from the five foreign wrestling federations who they have contacted seeking details as some wrestlers claimed they were harassed on tournaments abroad.
Regarding the police's chargesheet in the matter, officials said that police commissioner Sanjay Arora had reviewed the investigation till now and given the go-ahead at his end. The investigating officer will now complete formalities at his end and file the reports in Rouse Avenue Courts, said an official.
The wrestlers had called off their protest till June 15 after the Union sports minister assured them that police will complete their investigations by then. The protesting wrestlers, including Olympians, had earlier told the media that they will call for a bigger protest and resume their protest if their demands are not met. One of the major demands of the wrestlers has been the arrest of the former WFI chief.
