Panaji, June 14 (KNN) The Goa government on Tuesday gave approval to the project management unit (PMU) that implements coding and robotics in schools to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with research institutes and industry.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant chaired the 4th meeting of the empowered committee of CARES (coding & robotics in education in schools scheme).

For cooperation and development in the sector the committee has granted approval to the PMU to enter into MoUs with renowned research institutes and industry, such as; BITS Pilani, MSME Tech Dev Center, Avishkar Tech Solutions, Chromatic Infosystems Pvt Ltd.

PMU has been established under the directorate of technical education and directorate of education with an emphasis on computational thinking as envisaged by the national educational policy (NEP), 2020.

The state government also decided to establish training and proctored testing labs across all talukas and satellite CARES and makerspaces (place for hands-on learning) to encourage innovation through experimentation. 

“It is decided to establish training and proctored testing labs at each taluka. Research centres for educational pedagogy will be established for skill-based education at the project management unit which will engage research scholars through a research grant. The robotics labs in lead schools will be developed for delivery of elective curriculum,” the CM said.

Sixty schools in the state have been selected as ‘lead schools’ for delivery of the advanced curriculum under the CARES scheme.  (KNN Bureau)
