Man gets 20 yrs in jail for minor’s rape

Surat: A fast-track POCSO court on Tuesday sentenced a 31-year-old man to 20 years in jail for kidnapping and raping a seven-year-old girl in February 2021.
Judge Shakuntala Solanki handed the punishment to Jammu alias Jamil Pathan who had taken away the girl who was sleeping beside her mother outside a showroom near Lalgate on the night of February 15. After a few hours, the girl came crying to her mother and narrated her trauma. Her mother rushed to the spot which the girl showed and saw Pathan fleeing.
“He had violated the girl which amounts to rape under the POCSO Act,” assistant public prosecutor Dipesh Dave said.
