NEW DELHI: The staff of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) at Karol Bagh is at loggerheads with the local councillor over "illegal activities" by builders in the area.
On Sunday, Aam Aadmi Party councillor Ankush Nagar held a protest against officials in the Karol Bagh Zone, alleging that they were involved in a 'builder-official' nexus. In response, MCD officials claimed that it was Narang who was involved in the nexus. They also said that the councillor "misbehaved" with the officials.
On Monday, the MCD workers staged a protest against Narang for "involvement in illegal activities".
Narang, however, said: "Over the past many months, I have been requesting the deputy commissioner why the people in my ward are being served notices. They should tell everyone as to how many similar notices have been issued in the last five years under the regime of BJP and also the notices that have been issued in the five months of AAP rule."
Narang, who is the councillor from ward number 87, Ranjit Nagar, further added that the nexus between the builder mafia and officials would not be tolerated by Aam Aadmi Party.
He said he raised the issue in the meeting with the deputy commissioner.
During the protest on Monday, MCD workers burnt the local councillor's effigies and shouted slogans.
Narang said: "It is very clear that officials are protesting against me because my cause is right. They want to stifle my voice but will not succeed in doing so. I will continue to ask questions."
Kumar Abhishek, deputy commissioner of the Karol Bagh zone, refused to comment on the personal remarks made against him by Aam Aadmi Party .
"I would not like to comment on the personal remarks made against me, but what I can say is that if any complaint of corruption against any officer is reported to me, I will take action," he said.
