MUMBAI: In the past few days, residents of parts of island city including those from Bhuleshwar and Kalachowki areas complained of power cuts which lasted for 1-2 hours.
Late on Tuesday evening, there were power cuts in parts of Marine Drive and Churchgate A BEST official said 33kv bus section had tripped at Backbay receiving subbstation and said the fault was rectified within 15 minutes.
While BEST was not clear about the exact cause for the outages, an official said that these were local faults" and had not impacted a big area/locality.
The official further said that the undertaking will look into customer grievances, and also conduct site visits to check if the cables are in good condition and what actually led to the "localised faults."
A power consumer, who did not wish to be named, said that during power cuts, the major inconvenience was not getting BEST on the helplines. "The numbers given on the electricity bill are of no use as we were not able to get in touch with any control room official in order to find out what was the reason for the power cut and when it will be restored," he said.
