BENGALURU: In a big relief for IPS officer Ravi D Channannavar, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Bengaluru bench, has passed an interim order directing his continuance in the post of managing director of the state-owned
Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation (KEONICS).
In an order passed on June 9, a bench comprising
Justice S Sujatha and administrative member Rakesh Kumar Gupta stayed the June 7, 2023 order whereby IFS officer HC Girish was posted in Channannavar’s place. The next hearing is on July 4.
Senior advocate KN Phanindra, along with advocate Arnav A Bagalwadi, appearing on behalf of Channannavar, argued that the applicant has been transferred within a short period of six months of his present posting and without showing any posting. Channannavar took charge as MD of KEONICS only on November 15, 2022, the tribunal was told.
Channannavar argued there is no public interest involved in his transfer and the same violated various guidelines issued by the Supreme Court and was also opposed to All India Service Rules, 1968, which prescribe a minimum tenure of two years.
