Peak power demand in
Delhi surpassed 7,000 MW on Tuesday, data from
State Load Despatch Center showed, as temperatures soared in the city.
Peak demand touched 7,098 MW at 3:29 pm in the national capital, the highest this
summer season. However, peak demand so far in the city is still lower than last year's as western disturbances have kept the summer temperatures in check. Peak demand last year was recorded at 7,695 MW on June 29.
Last year in June, there were nine occasions when Delhi's power demand exceeded 7,000 MW.
The demand this summer has, however, not been very high as expected initially because of favourable weather conditions. Delhi's peak power demand has seen huge variations this summer with 4,390 MW on June 1 to the latest high.
