HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has released a 'Citizen's Charter' for new ward offices to redress public grievances in a fixed time frame. The civic body has set a time limit for each of these services, which include filling up potholes, clearing roadside garbage and sewerage overflows, which have a 24-hour deadline.
The 150 ward offices are all set to come into operation from June 16 and citizens could rely on the 'Citizen's Charter' to ensure works are completed in a time-bound manner. In case the grievances do not get redressed within the time frame prescribed in the charter, citizens could approach higher officials, who would initiate action accordingly.

Meanwhile, municipal administration and urban development (MAUD) minister and BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday met GHMC corporators from the pink party and asked them to work with the ward officers to resolve all complaints in their respective divisions.
The minister explained how the initiative would significantly enhance service delivery and foster closer interactions with the public. Underlining the uniqueness of the ward office system, KTR stressed that the initiative stands unparalleled across the nation.
Explaining the idea behind ward office concept, the minister said that it was part of chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao's decentralised administration to ensure benefits of welfare schemes and government programmes reach citizens without any gaps.

"The ward offices will aid in taking the civic services closer to people. This will strengthen good governance and that corporators can foster closer interactions with the public by providing more services," KTR said. Concluding the meeting, Rao gave the corporators insights into the extensive party activities scheduled for the forthcoming months. He encouraged their participation, affirming that their efforts would be instrumental in ensuring the growth of the party.
