Silchar:
Assam water resources minister Pijush Hazarika on Monday said a sluice gate with double shutters would be built in Bethukandi at a cost of Rs 10 crore for a permanent solution to the perennial problem of floods in Silchar.
The work of the project will begin in October, he added. Hazarika, who inspected the newly-constructed embankment and sluice gate in Bethukandi on Monday, said the present sluice gate in Bethukandi is functioning well but a site near it has been affected but there is nothing to worry, he said.
