Govt unveils initiative to help students set career goals

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has unveiled the CareerAware and CareerReady Programme, a pioneering initiative of the Goa government in partnership with Antarang Foundation and Adhyayan Foundation. The programme aims to provide comprehensive career guidance and career readiness training to secondary and higher secondary students from Classes IX to XII.

The CareerAware programme will be implemented for students of Classes IX and X, focusing on enabling students to develop self-awareness, understand their interests and aptitudes, and gain clarity in their career plans. On the other hand, the CareerReady programme will be introduced in Classes XI and XII, aiming to equip students with essential employability skills and help them establish clear career plans after completing their 12th grade.

Starting from 2023 until 2026, all students will have the opportunity to participate in this transformative programme. As part of the initiative, a dedicated career period will be incorporated into the school timetable, ensuring students have access to high-quality and timely career guidance.

This initiative not only offers students a futuristic approach to career planning but also focuses on capacity building for teachers, equipping them with the necessary training to become mentors for their students.

Under this initiative, students will gain a clear understanding of their career goals and explore at least five different career tracks that will aid a successful transition to higher education, diploma programs, or apprenticeships.

The initiative will also enable the students to benefit from industry exposure through routine expert speaker talks, webinars, or exposure visits. The CareerAware and CareerReady Programme is a significant step toward empowering Goa’s students with the necessary guidance and skills to navigate the evolving landscape of career opportunities.

By collaborating with Antarang Foundation and Adhyayan Foundation, the government of Goa demonstrates its commitment to ensuring holistic development of students with requisite guidance to help them choose desired career paths.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also launched the ACTIZENS’ Club Programme in government aided schools in association with Desh Apnayen Sahyog Foundation. He distributed laptops to 19 school managements the department of education.

The ACTIZENS’ Club programme is designed to improve civic awareness among students, develop 21st century skills among students, encourage civic action and community engagement among students.
