Officials with the Denver Police Department, including Chief Ron Thomas, gave an 11:30 a.m. update on their investigation into the overnight shooting downtown that left nine people, as well as at least one suspect, injured during the revelry that followed the Nuggets winning the NBA championship.

The shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Market and 20th streets as thousands of fans converged downtown to celebrate. Police previously said that a fight broke out and multiple shots were fired after an altercation involving several people.

As of Tuesday morning, three victims remained in critical condition.

The suspect was quickly taken into custody and suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
